Formato da Hannah Merrick e Craig Whittle, il duo ha una vita relativamente giovane: la storia inzia nel 2019 quando sorprendono tutti con il singolo “Crème Brûlée” che convince la casa discografica City Slang con cui pubblicano nel 2020 l’ep “Tell Me Your Mind And I’ll Tell You Mine” e successivamente l’LP “I’m not sorry, it was just me” (2022). Osannati da critica e pubblico, i King Hannah hanno subito conquistato i cuori dei loro ascoltatori in patria e all’estero grazie al loro sound lo-fi anni ‘90 che rispecchia il loro amore verso tutto l’immaginario di quegli anni, magistralmente coniugato al presente.
Chitarre anni 90′ quindi, che accompagnano un cantato intimo, a tratti tormentato, su compisizioni sonore quasi blues e un’attitudine terribilmente ambiziosa. Questa la ricetta vincente per la band che dal vivo ti risucchia con la sua psichedelia, i testi ridotti all’osso, chitarre graffianti e suoni ruvidi. Benenuti nei nuovi anni ’90.

Formed by Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle, this duo has a relatively young life: their story begins in 2019 when they surprise everyone with their single “Crème Brûlée” , impressing City Slang with whom they publish, in 2020, the EP “Tell Me Your Mind And I’ll Tell You Mine” and then the LP “I’m not sorry, it was just me” (2022). Acclaimed by both critics and public, King Hannah immediately breached into listeners’ hearts both home and abroad, thanks to their 90s lo-fi sound that shows their love towards all that belongs to those years, by masterfully adapting it to today.
Guitar sounds from the 90s then, which accompany intimate, at times tormented, vocals, on almost-bluesy sounds and a very ambitious attitude. This the winning formula for a band that when live drags you in with its psychedelia, bare-boned lyrics, scratching guitars and rough sounds. Welcome to the new 90s.

La neonata band Pordenonese Sunmei ha passato buona parte degli ultimi anni impegnata su più fronti.
Ha condividiviso il palco con artisti internazionali che vanno dagli Interpol e Peter Hook a Vök e The Altered Hours, esibendosi anche con i loro connazionali Diaframma, Be Forest e Brothers in Law, per citarne alcuni.
Prevalentemente, si sono presi il tempo di produrre le canzoni che compongono il loro primo LP, una raccolta di brani in lavorazione da tempo, finalmente confezionate durante la pandemia.
Molto ispirato dall’indie-folk del midwest americano, temperato nelle acque scure dello shoegaze, questo progetto mira a produrre musica che in qualche modo mescoli le sensibilità indie più classiche con frammenti di dream pop ed elettronica ambient.
Sia luminose che malinconiche, con texture torbide e testi semi-astratti, le tracce in uscita si articolano in canzoni strutturalmente semplici e dirette che parallelamente esplorano nuovi suoni e idee.
Direttamente da una stanza in campagna, questa musica rappresenta il viaggio che i Sunmei hanno intrapreso per arrivare a questo punto mentre cercano di avvicinarsi alla loro essenza di cantautori.

The newborn band Pordenonese Sunmei has spent most of the last few years engaged on several fronts.
He shared the stage with international artists ranging from Interpol and Peter Hook to Vök and The Altered Hours, also performing with their compatriots Diaphragm, Be Forest and Brothers in Law, to name a few.
Mostly, they took the time to produce the songs that make up their first LP, a collection of songs that have been in the works for some time, finally packaged during the pandemic.
Very inspired by the indie-folk of the American midwest, tempered in the dark waters of shoegaze, this project aims to produce music that somehow mixes the most classic indie sensibilities with fragments of dream pop and electronic ambient.
Both bright and melancholy, with murky textures and semi-abstract lyrics, the output tracks are articulated in structurally simple and direct songs that simultaneously explore new sounds and ideas.
Directly from a room in the country, this music represents the journey that Sunmei have undertaken to get to this point as they try to get closer to their essence as songwriters.
