ll caso del fenomeno Ben Howard è esploso nel 2011 con il debut album “Every Kingdom” che ha venduto oltre un milione di copie nel mondo e che gli ha fatto vincere due BRIT Awards come Breakthrough Artist e Best Male Artist. All’inizio la sua musica era caratterizzata da un folk dolce e immediato – basti ascoltare la hit “Only Love” – che, nel corso degli anni, ha lasciato spazio a un suono decisamente più ricercato, quasi visionario abbandonando la via del sound più facile e intraprendendo, invece, quella della sperimentazione. Ne è la testimonianza il suo ultimo lavoro, il disco “Collections From The Whiteout” uscito nel 2021 per la Island Records: la riprova che Ben non si è mai accontentato dell’etichetta di blues, folk o pop ma che, al contrario, non può più fare a meno della sperimentazione. Le tracce che compongono il disco, infatti, sono caratterizzate da un collage di nuovi tappeti sonori e di scelte stilistiche ambiziose, sapientemente miscelate grazie anche alla produzione di Aaron Dessner dei The National.
Le canzoni di Ben Howard hanno il dono del magnetismo, grazie al suo magistrale fingerpicking, ai temi trattati nei suoi brani e una voce splendida, chiara e terribilmente espressiva.

The Ben Howard phenomenon exploded in 2011 with his debut album “Every Kingdom” , which sold over a million copies worldwide and made him win two BRIT Awards as Best Breakthrough Artist e Best Male Artist. In the early days, Ben’s music was a sweet and mellow folk – just think of the smash hit “Only Love” – but, throughout the years, this sound has matured into something much more refined, almost visionary, leaving behind the easy and immediate sounds of before in favour of experimentation. This fully transpires in his latest work “Collections From The Whiteout” published in 2021 on Island Records: proof that Ben was never satisfied with the labels of blues, folk or pop, but that actually he can no longer work without experimenting. The track list features a rainbow of new sounds and styles, ambitious choices wisely blended also thanks to the production by Aaron Dessner of The National.
Ben Howard’s song are magnetic, thanks also to his masterful fingerpicking, important lyrics and a wonderful, clear and incredibly emotive voice.

Mabe Fratti è una violoncellista guatemalteca, di stanza a Città del Messico.
Musicista sperimentale, passa tra le performance live e collaborazioni interdisciplinari, tra arti visive e collaborazioni con altri musicisti.
Il suo primo LP completo “Pies sobre la tierra”, mixato e masterizzato interamente dalla stessa Fratti, ha una carica emotiva quasi palpabile; fonde suoni ambient ed elettronici con impressionanti composizioni di violoncello. Il suo è il risultato di un magma sonoro, che deriva dai suoi metodi non convenzionali di fusione del violoncello con l’elettronica.
Questa sua continua sperimentazione è stato il motivo di essere stata scelta da diverse band sperimentali, con le quali è stata in tournée in tutto il Messico.
La voce di Mabe Fratti è dolce e avvolgente e si fonde perfettamente alle sue creazioni sonore.
Il suo ultimo Album “Se Ve Desde Aquí”, uscito nell’Ottobre 2022, è di una bellezza cruda e severa, che cattura la terra spaccata sotto di sé, come nel deserto, ed insieme la radiosa ampiezza del cielo notturno sopra.

Mabe Fratti is a Guatemalan cellist, based in Mexico City.
Experimental musician, he moves between live performances and interdisciplinary collaborations, between visual arts and collaborations with other musicians.
His first complete LP “Pies sobre la tierra”, mixed and mastered entirely by Fratti herself, has an almost palpable emotional charge; it blends ambient and electronic sounds with impressive cello compositions. His is the result of a sound magma, derived from his unconventional methods of fusion of the cello with electronics.
This continuous experimentation was the reason she was chosen by several experimental bands, with whom she toured throughout Mexico.
Mabe Fratti’s voice is sweet and enveloping and blends perfectly with her sound creations.
His latest album “Se Ve Desde Aquí”, released in October 2022, is of a raw and severe beauty, which captures the cracked earth beneath him, as in the desert, and at the same time the radiant amplitude of the night sky above.
