ARABSTRAP : the fouth headliner annouced today from boutique festival SEXTO ‘NPLUGGED.

The legendary and charismatic Scottish duo from Falkirk will perform as part of the 17th edition of the festival on Saturday 30th July 2022,in the historic location of Piazza Castello, in the heart of one of the most ancient, charming and rock’n’roll villages in Italy.

More than 25 years since they formed, fifteen since they parted ways, and one since their critically-acclaimed return with the album “As Days Get Dark” (2021, Rock Action) ARAB STRAP are coming back to Italy for an unmissable live show.

The duo, formed by AidanMoffat(vocals) and by the poly- instrumentalist MalcolmMiddleton(guitar, bass, sax, piano and drum machine), was born in Falkirk in the mid 90s; the debut album “The Week Never Starts Round Here” was released in 1996 on the independent label Chemikal Underground and included “The First Big Weekend”, the song that got them known and loved at international level. There followed a long series of sold out gigs and festival appearances, and sharing the stage with their compatriots and friends, Mogwai. Their career comprised 5 studio album until 2005, when they decided to split up, but not before a final gift to fans: “TenYears of Tears”, a record of previously unreleased tracks and b-sides , a kind of farewell letter.

In 2021 they are back, better than ever, with their 7th studio album, “As Days Get Dark”, another demonstration of their incredible songwriting ability, infused with electro-post-rock touches, confirming themselves as a firm point of reference in the international music landscape.

An album that perfectly captures the essence of this duo, back performing live, for a record that is both evolutionary and revolutionary; a continuation of what has come before, but also a bold leap into the future.

ARABSTRAP therefore join the already rich line-up of SEXTO ‘NPLUGGED, a line-up that in the past few weeks has already seen three headliner announcements, confirming once again some of the key features of the Festival: musical experimentation and stylish, unconventional choices that make the Festival a beacon for quality music in Italy, always with total respect of the hosting location.

The other names forming the line-up are, in fact: the polyhedric French artist WOODKID – who is planning an epic live show for the 23rd July – and two internationally famous female artists: the American Indie-rock icon CATPOWER–on stage on Tuesday 21st June, a North-East Italy exclusive – and the charismatic Danish singer-songwriter AGNESOBEL, set to charm the Medieaval village on29th July.

What’s more, from a collaboration betweenSexto‘NpluggedandFarEastFilmFestival(the biggest European event dedicated to popular Asian cinema) comes a truly unmissable event: the pianist, composer and producer MIDORI HIRANO will perform on saturday 23rd April, at 9 p.m/ 21.00 on the Visionario stage in Udine – presale already active on www.visionario.movie and c/o the Visionario desk – for a unique one-off event fusing electonica, piano and visuals created especially for this show by Kaliber16 (kaliber16.com).

Born in Kyoto in 1979 e active in Berlin since 2008, Midori Hirano moves seamlessly between past and present. Between experimentation and tradition (where acoustic instruments such as piano, strings and guitars meet more modern and experimental electronic sound shapes). Her first official release, LushRush, came out in 2006, hitting international critics straight in the heart. Then, with the follow-up klo:yuri, Midori’s journey took on the path of research. And she has never looked back since…

Seven solo albums (the latest, Soniscope, released in 2021), hundreds of live shows (Boiler Room Berlin, Club Transmediale, Heroines of Sound Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, L.E.V. Festival), several productions for video installations, dance and cinema. Some of the films whose soundtracks she has contributed to have been presented at the Berlin International Film Festival, the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, the Krakow Film Festival e the Hong Kong International Film Festival, amongst others.
